Policies

By joining Iota Delta Sorority, a woman takes on the duties of membership and commits to being part of a general education Sorority whose aim is to better its members through educational opportunities.

Hazing policy

No New Member Sister shall be subject to corporal punishment or physical hazing of any kind. Iota Delta Sorority defines hazing to be any intentional action or situation created, on or off Sorority premises, to produce mental or physical discomfort, embarrassment, harassment, or ridicule.

These activities and stipulations include physical and/or psychological shocks, engaging in illegal public stunts and jokes, morally degrading or humiliating games or activities, any ordeal that is in any respect indecent or shocking to the individual’s morals or values, or activities that the individual feels to be in poor taste.

If at any time any individual feels that any policies or the activities taking place are not consistent with the policies of the education institution of the University of La Verne, that individual holds the right to notify administrators on the campus of behavior that she feels is wrong.

These administrators could include the Dean of Student Affairs, the staff member who oversees all campus organizations, as well as any faculty of staff of the University. If needed, Iota Delta will offer Hazing Seminars to those individuals wishing to know more about hazing, as well as how the Sorority stands firmly behind its Statement of Hazing.

For more information regarding hazing, check out:

ALcohol policy

Iota Delta Sorority is a general education sorority and as such is responsible to its members for enriching and enhancing their lives through the educational process. Thus, the issue of alcohol abuse is one of great concern to the sorority.

The responsible use of alcohol is widely accepted throughout our society. The Sorority is committed to an educational process giving each member a meaningful basis for attitudes toward the role of alcohol in both personally and as a group. The sorority seeks to be a positive influence in avoiding the problems which can be directly linked to the unenlightened use of alcohol.

Among these are the disfiguring or fatal accidents caused by alcohol abuse; the collegiate quietly slipping into alcoholism; the reckless and irresponsible behavior which can sometimes disrupt a group function; and the inevitable personal embarrassment and damaged perception by others.

Iota Delta Sorority reminds all of its members of their responsibility for the welfare of others and themselves. If a Sister feels she has a problem with alcohol or knows of someone who might have a problem, she is encouraged to contact the Counseling Center, or any of the local self-help groups.
