The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) is a beacon of hope for those impacted by CF, shining bright since 1955. As a non-profit organization in the United States, CFF is dedicated to finding a cure and improving the lives of those with CF through information, research and resources.
As a chapter of Iota Delta, we are proud to support this cause through fun and impactful events like the Great Strides Walk, 24-Hour Jump-a-thon and Bowl for Breath – where we bowl for a cause and raise awareness for CF. Let's work together to make a brighter future for those affected by CF!
Come and be a part of our efforts to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation! Our events are open to everyone and are a great opportunity to come together to make a difference. The Clothesline Project (CLP) is a powerful national program that started in 1990 with the goal of shining a light on the devastating issue of violence against women. It gives women who have been impacted by violence a voice and platform to express their emotions through decorated shirts displayed on a clothesline, serving as a visual testament to this important issue.
Every year, Iota Delta takes a stand against violence against women by hosting a Clothesline Project at the University of La Verne. This event is more than just a display, it's a powerful call to action that rallies support for survivors, empowers those who have overcome such violence, and honors those who have lost their lives.
The inspiration for this annual event came from a tragedy all too close to home - the death of Mimi Barraza, a friend of a sorority sister, at the hands of her ex-boyfriend. Mimi was just 20 years old, and her murderer was never brought to justice. In her memory, we ask that you keep her name alive by speaking it often and taking a stand against violence against women.
Iota Delta's Latex or No Sex Campaign is a bold initiative aimed at promoting sexual health and wellness on and off the University of La Verne campus. The women of Iota Delta are passionate about spreading awareness about safe sex and taking an active role in this important cause.
This campaign has a rich history, starting as "The Virgin Party" in the year 2000. Although the early iterations of this event included inappropriate and sex-themed games, the intent was always rooted in promoting health and safety. A few years later, the name was changed to Latex or No Sex, reflecting the campaign's continued focus on educating and promoting safe sex practices.
Community. Giving back to the community is the strongest form of service. Giving back to the beautiful humanity that surrounds us is the purest form of human engagement. Having countless people come together and support the causes that Iota Delta directly supports shows the effect that people can have on each other. I will pledge my duties and services in order to ensure the beautiful humanity that we have been bestowed will thrive via our philanthropies.
